South Granville BIA partnered with City Blocks Studio & MFG. to redesign part of the neighbourhood plaza to further stretch the imagination of the public space projects in the South Granville BIA.
The intention was to create a safe space for cyclists and pedestrians to share the plaza use and reduce the amount of cyclist and pedestrian traffic incidents. To achieve this City Blocks bright forward the concept of extending the urban art mural by The WKNDRS onto the asphalt, which would clearly delineate a pedestrian-friendly area and a cyclist bike lane. In July 2023, the South Granville BIA, WKNDRS and City Blocks co-organized a community paint day to paint the plaza’s new asphalt art mural.
Matching the colours of the neighbourhood plaza mural, people can stop and enjoy a street furniture pocket park installation designed and built by City Blocks, complete with our adaptive streets Pocket Blocks, New Wave, and Highline street loungers.
